The leaves are falling, red and green decor is making its way to the shelves, and the holiday season is on its way! With so much giving and receiving happening in the next few months, it’s only fitting that a designated day to give back happens in the midst of it all. Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and falls on December 3rd this year. It is a global day of giving, marked by the social media hashtag, #GivingTuesday.

This day is a time when communities, individuals, and organizations come together to raise awareness for the causes that matter to them.In 2018, Giving Tuesday surpassed one billion dollars since its inception in 2012. More than $380 million dollars in donations were collected in 2018 alone! Maryland, in particular, has historically been very generous on Giving Tuesday, coming in as the 11th most generous state in 2018 for Giving Tuesday donations. This year, Giving Tuesday is December 3, 2019, awarding you the perfect opportunity to put on an incredible beginning to your end-of-year giving season.

These are 5 marketing tips to help you create your Giving Tuesday Campaign

Don’t forget to ask – Use your email list to tell your supporters about Giving Tuesday and the goals you set. Emphasize to your audience how their donations make an impact. Make sure to send reminders and more information as Giving Tuesday approaches.

Add an extra incentive– Get a matching grant from one of your trusted donors. See if one of your donors will match the first $5,000 you raise. Your donors will feel like they’re giving more than their donation, and your matching donor gets to be engaged and appreciated.

Get everyone on your team– Make it easy with graphics and swipeable captions for your staff and supporters to post on social media to help you spread the word about your Giving Tuesday Goals.

Show your gratitude and engage – Keep the momentum of your campaign going by thanking your donors with a social shout out and keep your followers updated with how close you are to reaching your goal.

Make it easy for people to donate–  Make donating to your organization easy by having a button on your website and including the donation link in your posts and emails. Check to make sure everything is working correctly and the donors have a seamless donation experience before you launch your campaign.
